What is Inconel wire mesh?
Inconel 600 | 601 | 625 | 718 wire mesh is a woven wire cloth where warp and weft (woof / filling) wires are interlaced at right angles. In other words, each warp wire and each weft wire pass over one, two or other amounts of wires, and then under the next one, two or other amounts of wires.
According to different way of the weave, there are four main weaves: plain, dutch, twilled, twilled dutch. For example, plain woven wire mesh is the mesh where warp and weft wires pass over one, and then under the next adjacent wire in both sides. Warp and weft wires of twilled woven wire mesh need to pass over two, and then under two successive wires in both directions.
In addition, two distinct sets of wires are straight and at right angles to each other.
Weaving type of Inconel wire mesh
Plain weave, Twill weave, etc.
Weave types are different because of different interlacing of warp and weft wires and different wire diameter.

What is Inconel 600 material?
Inconel alloy 600 is a material contains Ni (≥72.0%), Cr (14.0%-17.0%), Fe (6.0%-10.0%), Mn (≤1.0%), Cu (≤0.5%), Si (≤0.5%), C (≤0.15%), S (≤0.015%).
What is Inconel 625 made of?
The main chemical composition of Inconel 625 is Nickel (≥58.0%), Chromium (20.0%-23.0%), Iron (≤5.0%), Molybdenum (8.0%-10.0%).
Is Inconel 625 a stainless steel?
No. Inconel 625 is a kind of nickel alloy, and chromium is the second content. However, stainless steel is a group of ferrous alloys. Although there are nickel and chromium compositions for many stainless steel materials, they aren’t the main elements. So they are different.
Is Inconel mesh better than stainless steel mesh?
It’s hard to say. First because both Inconel and stainless steel are a group of alloys, not a certain metal material like stainless steel 304 or Inconel 601. So their compositions vary widely. And then theirs properties are different. For instance, 310 stainless steel has a higher resistance to oxidation than 304 stainless steel.
Secondly, it’s hard to say what does “better” mean. It may means good corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, tensile strength, melt resistance or others.
Is Inconel a titanium?
Absolutely not. First because Inconel is a family of nickel-chromium based superalloys. So titanium isn’t the main content. Moreover there is no titanium element for some Inconel alloys. For example Inconel 600.
What is the difference between Inconel and Monel?
Inconel is a group of nickel alloys, primarily composed of nickel and chromium.
Monel is also a family of nickel alloys, but its second element is copper (not chromium like Inconel).
Therefore, theirs usages are a little different because of different compositions.
So what is Inconel and Monel used for?
Wire mesh Inconel is typically used in high temperature applications. Because inconel can form a thick, stable, passivating oxide layer protecting the surface from further attack.
Monel wire mesh can be used in some electric and electronic applications. In addition, corrosion resistance of Monel alloys is good. It can resistant many agents, for example seawater.
Mesh metrics: mesh counts, wire diameter and hole size
Mesh counts: 2-200 mesh
Wire diameter: the thickness of one single wire.
Opening / Aperture / Hole size: the distance between two adjacent parallel wires.
Micron size can also tell us something about the Inconel mesh screen. Because it typically refers to the nominal opening size. For example, 250 micron mesh screen possesses 0.25 mm aperture size. 75 micron mesh possesses 0.075 mm aperture size.
From the mesh screen size chart, we can also figure out that opening size of 40 mesh Inconel wire mesh will be 0.38 mm if its wire diameter is 0.254 mm. So we can say its micron size is about 380. 200 mesh Inconel wire mesh cloth has 0.0533 mm wire diameter and 0.0737 mm hole size. So its micron size is approximately 73.
